The Devil in Ohio plot, cast and trailer for Netflix’s new thriller/horror series, available on the streaming platform from September 2. It is based on the book of the same name by Daria Polatin which tells a true story that happened in Ohio. Polatin herself participated in this project as a showrunner.

Suzanne Mathis (Emilie Deschanel) is a hospital psychiatrist who meets young Mae Dodd (Madeline Arthur), a teenager escaped from a cult. Suzanne decides to help him and opens the doors of her house to him, welcoming him into her family. Suzanne is married to Peter (Sam Jaeger) and the couple have three daughters Helen (Alisha Newton), Julius (Xaria Dotson) and Dan (Naomi Tan). This decision will radically change the life of the Mathis family. Mae’s arrival will indeed mark the beginning of a series of strange incidents, which according to Jules are linked to the presence of this mysterious young girl. Is Mae hiding something? Aided by Detective Alex Lopez (Gerardo Celasco), Suzanne will delve into the young woman’s past to understand why she had to flee her hometown.
The Devil in Ohio has eight episodes and was billed as a standalone miniseries. So there will hardly be a second season.
This show marks the return of Emilie Deschanel in a lead role, five years from Bones.
As expected, the miniseries is inspired by a true story. To make it even more realistic, the scriptwriters studied in depth how the different sects work, then created an imaginary one.
The Devil in Ohio is just one of many new releases for the month of September on Netflix. Among the novelties, as far as television series are concerned, the fifth season of Italythe second of Destiny – The Winx Saga And Cobra Kai 5.
