The idea of this particular and unexpected project is the fruit of an initiative of the independent administrator Rhys Frake-Waterfield. but how did we arrive at the making of a film so far removed from the canons of the starting material?
For many years, the rights to adaptations of Winnie the Pooh and other 100 Acre Wood characters were held by Disney, but as the rights reverted to the public domain, Frake-Waterfield took the opportunity to do something very unexpected.
The film has been described as a ‘Horrifying reinterpretation of the famous Winnie the Pooh story‘. The cast of the film includes Nikolai Leon as Christopher Robin, Craig David Dowsett as Pooh, Chris Cordell as Piglet, Amber Doig-Thorne as Alice, Natasha Tosini as Lara, Maria Taylor as Maria, May Kelly as Tina, Natasha Rose Mills as Jess and Danielle Ronald as Zoe.
In the movie trailer we can see Christopher Robin now an adult returning to the 100-acre wood for the first time in many years, but will discover something terrifying.
His old childhood friends Winnie the Pooh and Piglet have become gods sadistic maniacs, forced to eat their friends (you can see Eeyore’s grave in the background) to survive starvation after being long forgotten by Christopher Robin. The bear accompanied by his inseparable companion will then give way to a terrible and bloody revenge, where no one will be spared.
