Brian McDermott has proposed two models for the staging of Toronto home matches in 2020.

With international travel restrictions likely to rule out the possibility of teams flying out to Canada, McDermott is becoming increasingly resigned to the reality of ‘home’ games taking place elsewhere.

He told talkSPORT2’s Mark Wilson and Phil Caplan: “One of the models we’ve thought about is reversing our home fixtures, so when we’re due to play Wigan at our ground we play it at their ground instead.

“The other model is that we adopt another facility as our home ground and we entertain teams there as our home fixtures.

“But there’s risk in both of those models and I don’t think either of them will generate that much money for the Wolfpack.

“Nobody has been through this before and I don’t think anybody has the answers, and we won’t know what the landscape looks like until later down the line.”

The Wolfpack coach conceded that not being able to play games in Toronto, in the club’s maiden season in Super League, is a major blow.

“It’s looking grim in terms of being able to play games in Canada, which is a big thing for the Canadian people, the fans, the players and the club.

“For us one of the biggest things about playing for a club called Toronto is playing and being in the city, but we’re unsure at the moment what our involvement looks like.

“It could be UK-based, Europe-based, or whether we get to go over to Canada closer to the end of the year.”
