Two new official projects for the actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Trial of Chicago 7) who will star on September 7 as Jiminy Cricket in Disney Plus’ live-action remake of Pinocchio.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tessa Thompson (Thor: Love and Thunder) will team up in a new sci-fi thriller titled Ash. The film is produced by Neill Blomkamp (District 9) and directed by musician and music video director Steven Ellison aka Flying Lotus who previously directed the comedy Kuso (2017) and the New Horror Anthology episode “Ozzy’s Dungeon” V/H/S/99.
The movie “Ash” centers on a woman (Thompson) who “wakes up on a distant planet to find her space station crew brutally killed, and must then decide if she can trust the man (Gordon-Levitt) sent to save her. But as their investigation into what happened sets off a terrifying chain of events, she begins to wonder just how innocent she really is.”
The film, produced by XYZ Films and written by Jonni Remmler, will go into production in New Zealand next year. Flying Lotus, who also want to compose the music for the film, said, “It’s an absolute dream come true to collaborate with some of the most talented actors around!”
GFC Founder and CEO Matthew Metcalfe and XYZ Films Partner Nate Bolotin added, “We couldn’t be happier to have Tessa and Joseph star in this film, they’re both incredibly talented actors and gifted. With Steve at the helm, this will be a truly visionary film and we couldn’t be more excited to bring the project into production in 2023.”
Joseph Gordon-Levitt signed to star in the Beverly Hills Cop 4 by Eddie Murphy currently filming for Netflix. The officially titled sequel Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley will also feature Taylor Paige from the play Zola and biographical films Cocaine – The True Story of White Boy Rick And But Rainey’s black bottomlast role of the late Chadwick Boseman.
At the helm of “Beverly Hills Cop 4,” newcomer Mark Molloy replaced director duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah who left long ago to helm DC Batgirl, which Warner Bros. recently cancelled. Eddie Murphy returns as Axel Foley and will produce alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman.
The film was written by Will Beall who also wrote gangster squad and author of the stories of Aquaman And Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The film, which will continue the adventures of the Detroit cop, first appeared in the 1984 classic. Netflix has said that if the next film does well, it will be available to work on other sequels.
