Dragon House the anticipated prequel series of game of thrones centered on the Targaryen dynasty, it recently debuted and immediately found favor with fans.
As we know, the series was quickly renewed for a second season, which will see the return of a very important person for the television franchise inspired by the works of George RR Martin. It’s about Alan Taylorformer director of many episodes of the parent series, who will take the place of Miguel Sapochnik in the role of showrunner.
According to what the The Hollywood Reporter, Taylor’s return was also needed given Sapochnik’s choice to step back. It was reportedly dictated by a major drain on energy that came to a head after three years of non-stop work aimed at bringing the new series to the screen.
Sapochnik – who will remain professionally linked to HBO, with whom he has new projects underway – took his leave with a statement which we report below:
“Working in the Game of Thrones universe over the past few years has been an honor and a privilege, and in particular spending the past two years with the cast and crew of House of the Dragon. I’m really proud of what we accomplished with the first season and thrilled with the enthusiastic response from our viewers. It was incredibly difficult deciding to leave the show, but I know it’s the right choice for me, both personally and professionally.
However, I take comfort in knowing that Alan will be joining the show. He’s someone I’ve known and respected for a long time, and I believe this precious series couldn’t be in better hands. I am very happy to continue to be part of the HBO and House of the Dragon family and of course wish Ryan and his team all the best and success with Season 2 and beyond.“.
His parting words are balanced by those of Alan Taylor, which he voiced all his enthusiasm returning to work on the universe, he helped shape:
“It’s a pleasure and an honor to be back on HBO to immerse myself in the world of the Targaryens, looking forward to working closely with Ryan as House of the Dragon enters its second season. Ryan, Miguel and George have launched an extraordinary story in a rich and fascinating world. Coming back to Westeros will be a huge undertaking and I can’t wait to take on the challenge. ”
Until Taylor arrives, the sole showrunner role will be covered by Ryan Condalone of the co-creators of the series with George RR Martin.
