The franchise of Extraterrestrial prepares to make its small-screen debut with the new FX-produced television series.

The series was announced on Disney Investor Day in 2020 and now, two years later, it looks like production is coming to a head, as evidenced by the first released images. These also seem to confirm what has been said in recent months by John Landgraf, president of the FX network, who had given interesting insights on the show. According to the exec, the new series will take place around the year 2090 (which is the same year as the events of Prometheus), an element that will indeed make it a prequel to the saga:

The TV series will take place before Ripley’s appearance. This will be the first story in the Alien franchise set on Earth. It will be a story that will unfold on our planet, more or less towards the end of this century, it will unfold in about seventy years. The character of Ripley will therefore not participate in this series, nor the other known characters of the saga.“.

Landgraf’s statements had put a lot of meat on the fire, and the first images released in the series seem to confirm the words of the president of FX.

At this time, we don’t know when filming for the series will begin, but the network’s plan is to kick off within the next few months. The showrunner of the series will be Noah Hawley, known for handling the Fargo and Legion series. He will also be involved in the production of the show Ridley Scott, legendary director who created the first iconic film in the saga, returning here in the role of executive producer. The preliminary synopsis for the series released by the broadcaster reads as follows:

Set in the not-too-distant future, the Alien franchise will be set on Earth for the first time. Blending the timeless horror of the first Alien film with the non-stop action of the second, the show is an exciting and chilling ride that will keep fans in their groove..

The series does not yet have an official release date, but we know that it will be distributed in our country thanks to Disney +and which will enrich the offer of the Star portal.
