At the microphones of Vanity Fair in a recent interview Danny DeVito he had the opportunity to speak in circles, even answering a few questions with the lie detector, and obviously talked about the Batman movie he played thirty years ago, Return of Batmanbut also of The Batman of Matt Reevesthe most recent film version of the character hit theaters last March.

About Batman – The Returnthe 1992 film in which he played the Penguin, and in particular the interpreter of Bruce Wayne At the time, he said: “It’s my favorite, it’s my favorite. This is Michael Keaton. He was Batman when I was the Penguin”. Speaking about the tone of the film and its director, he added: “My feeling, in making a comparison between the two films, is that I’m a fan of Tim Burton…I like the extravagant, the melodrama, the disgruntled Pee-wee Herman that throws me off the hook. It makes me smile“.

Regarding the most recent incarnation of the character, De Vito added instead: My penguin was better. I love Colin, he’s a great guy, but he’s mine opinion. Speaking to The Wrap recently, De Vito said: “It’s clearly a different environment. I think he was a cleaner, more serious, gangster-like Batman. There are three Italians who are bad guys, the Falcons. But I think speaking of performances, Colin – who’s a very good friend of mine – did a fantastic job. Hats off to anyone who sits in the makeup chair this long. I did it with the Penguin and I liked it a lot”.

Farrell, we remember, should reprise the role in a spin-off series on the character already on the program. What do you think of De Vito’s comments? Let us know, as always, in the comments.
