Chris Rock is back to talk about the slap received by Will Smith around the world on the Oscars Night 2022 stage.

The comedian is currently on tour with David Chapeland on the Liverpool leg, the two returned to the offensive joke which then triggered Smith’s overreaction. The line Rock uttered on the Oscars stage referred to Jada Pinkett Smith, Will’s wife, having alopecia and wanting to act in a hypothetical sequel to Soldier Jane, a film that stars Demi Moore with a duly shaved head. .

Returning to the joke that started the whole series of well-known events, Rock said:

Did that shit hurt? Absolutely yes! That bitch hit me for a shit joke, coolest joke I ever said“.

During the show David Chappelle then increased the dose by descending even more heavily towards Smith:

Will has looked like a perfect person for 30 years, and now he’s ripped off the mask and shown us that he’s actually as ugly as all of us. Whatever the consequences… I hope he doesn’t put his mask back on and let his true face breathe. I see myself in both“.

My actions at the presentation of the 94th edition of the Academy Price they were shocking, painful and unforgivable. The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, everyone in attendance and local audiences around the world – he admitted in his statement – I betrayed the trust ofAcademy. I deprived the other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. My heart is broken.
