One year after the success of the first edition, I Son of a Pitch Awardinternational magazine dedicated to short films directed by directors under 30 from all over the world.
The awards ceremony took place on Wednesday, September 7 in the Italian pavilion of the Venice International Film Festival. The winners were announced by Pierfrancesco Dilibertoin art BIPAnd Cristiano Travaglioli (Efa Prize for writing The great beauty).
The 2022 edition was centered on the macro-theme of sustainable development, and saw 1,000 short films made by directors from 80 different countries compete. Among the seven prizes awarded to young filmmakers are those for Best Short Film, Best Direction, “Intercultural” Prize, Audience Prize, “Future” Prize, “Sustainable Development” Prize and “Invisible Territories, Borders and Tomorrow”. The latter notably highlighted the Italian director Giuseppe Caponio with his Luisa is at seain an edition where many Taiwanese filmmakers have been honored.

The prizes were awarded by the following juries and personalities:
ARTISTIC JURY, for the Best Short Film and the Better orientationchaired by Pif, Cristiano Travaglioli, Anna Favella (protagonist of Incastrati, the series of Ficarra and Picone), Maria Chiara Valacchi (independent curator and artistic editor of Elle Decor) and Lorenzo Costantino (cinema director of the Polish Institute in Rome ).
SOCIAL JURY, for the Prize “Intercultural”composed of refugee women invited from the Casa di Giorgia, an establishment that welcomes women fleeing wars, persecutions, social tensions, poverty, from Ukraine, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Afghanistan and Iran.
PUBLIC JURY, for the Audience Award, made up of students from film schools all over Italy. This particular jury was designed to initiate confrontation and interaction between those preparing to work in the audiovisual world.
Among other rewards, we have the Future Pricewhose winner is entitled to international distribution by the magazine, is awarded by Erminio Perocco, director and creative director behind the famous series of serial advertisements A telephone call prolongs life and Crodino with the gorilla, already selected at the Sundance Film Festival with Once we were children.
The Sustainability Award is instead awarded by EFM, a company that deals with living spaces from relationships: a recognition that demonstrates the closeness of EFM to the world of cinema, in which space is always functional to the creation of a story, of a relationship, of an experience.
The Invisible Prize, Border and Territories of Tomorrowdesigned by architect Alfonso Femia, architect, founder of 500 × 100 and Ateliers Alfonso Femia, focuses on the enhancement of those territories still considered invisible, poor, but rich in hidden beauty.
